Professional Bio

Bill Haslam was elected governor of the State of Tennessee in 2010 and reelected in 2014 by the largest margin in Tennessee history. Tennessee became the first state in the nation to offer high school graduates and adults two years of community or technical college and was recognized as the fastest improving K-12 education state in the country. During his tenure, Haslam worked with the Tennessee General Assembly to simultaneously pass the largest tax cut in Tennessee history and improve the state’s transportation infrastructure.

From 2003-2011, Haslam served as Mayor of Knoxville, Tennessee.

Since leaving office, Haslam has returned to the private sector and continues to be engaged on local and national issues. Haslam serves on the Ryman Hospitality Properties, Inc. Board of Directors, Young Life Board of Trustees, and American Enterprise Institute Board.

He is on the board of the University of Tennessee where he is also a Director of the Institute of American Civics as well as a Professor at the Baker School of Policy and Public Affairs.

Haslam and his family are owners of the NHL’s Nashville Predators and Bill is the Chairman of the team.

Haslam is the author of Faithful Presence: The Promise and Peril of Faith in the Public Square and co-hosts the podcast You Might Be Right.

Haslam and his wife, Crissy, live in Knoxville, Tennessee and have three children and ten grandchildren.
