Professional Bio

Kyle Grainger grew up near Myrtle Beach, South Carolina where at 10 years-old he was already on TV doing the kids news a local TV station produced regularly.

He started professionally in broadcasting in 2000 while still in college for a station in Columbia, South Carolina. He moved back to Myrtle Beach after graduating to work at his hometown station WPDE. A few years later, Kyle joined another future Myrtle Beach television station and helped build the world's first full High Definition television station when WMBF News launched in August 2008. In 2012, Kyle moved to WVLT where he served as Sevier County Bureau Chief and a meteorologist until January of 2026.

Kyle launched a new all digital platform focused on tourism in the Great Smoky Mountains. Smokies LIVE, a travel channel, focuses on where to stay and where to play in the Smokies combined with what's new, how to get there and the weather that impacts your vacation.

You will often find Kyle speaking to schools or community service organizations. Kyle also volunteers for several events as the emcee. You'll regularly see him volunteering at Sevier County Food Ministries every Monday, and he's also on the Steering Committee for the food ministry. Kyle is on the Board of Directors for the Pigeon Forge Hospitality & Tourism Association and serves as Co-Chair of the communication committee.

He has been awarded for his work in broadcasting with Associated Press Awards, an EMMY and the prestigious Murrow award for journalism excellence.

Kyle loves to call the Great Smoky Mountains home.
