Professional Bio
Maureen Thornton has served as President & CEO of the Williamson County Convention & Visitors Bureau (Visit Franklin) since July 2021, leading the strategic direction for tourism in Williamson County. Before this role, she was Vice President of Strategic Tourism Initiatives at Visit Houston, where she focused on enhancing leisure tourism and international marketing. She also served as Vice President & Regional Director at Development Counsellors International (DCI), managing public relations and marketing strategies for major destination clients and establishing DCI’s presence in Toronto, ON.
Thornton currently serves on several boards, including the Transportation Management Association (TMA) Group, Williamson County Fair, Franklin Public Arts Commission, Middle Tennessee Electric, The Circle of Giving, and Williamson, Inc. She graduated from Leadership Franklin in 2024.
Thornton earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Miami (FL) and lives in Franklin with her husband and two daughters.
